FAQ Question
How can I make Windows NT reboot automatically? If Windows NT crashes when the plant is not manned by personnel, then a blue screen appears with information on the cause and the state of the system at the time of the crash. However, until a manual reboot is undertaken both the operating system and IGSS monitoring of the process is down. This means the plant can go unmonitored for a number of hours.
Answer
You can force Windows NT to automatically reboot after a crash. Enter the Windows Registry by clicking on Start then Run… and key in “regedit” followed by pressing ENTER. Find the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\CrashControl\AutoReboot
and set its value to 1.
Now, the NT machine will reboot after writing a crash log file.
