FAQ Question

IGSS version 9.0 and 10 supports both 32-bit office versions of Microsoft Office (Office 2007 and Office 2010) for creating and editing reports in IGSS.

IGSS V10 supports Office 2013 See below.

IGSS Version 9.0 does not support earlier versions of Microsoft office (for example Office 2003) or the 64-bit office versions. If you use these office versions, you will not be able to create IGSS reports.

Additionally, the Microsoft Office suite should be installed prior to installing IGSS.

If you install Microsoft Office after you have installed IGSS, you must run the RMS.VSTO file from the GSS folder in the IGSS install folder – the default install folder for IGSS is C:\Program Files\7T\IGSS32\V9.0\GSS\rms.vsto

IGSS 10 and Microsoft Office 2013

Microsoft has released a new Office Suite in 2013, called Microsoft Office 2013 following the naming tradition of Microsoft software. IGSS supports Microsoft Office 2013, but not directly when installing IGSS. This is because the IGSS installation procedure only recognizes Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2010 and not Microsoft Office 2013. IGSS does not support any version of Microsoft Office Suite that runs 64-bit.

You can use the Microsoft Excel application in Microsoft Office 2013 to create and run Custom Reports as well as Standard and Operator reports (for IGSS 10) just like Office 2007 or Office 2010, but you must first follow a few set up steps.

If you want to use Microsoft Office 2013 you must do the following:

Install Microsoft Office 2013
Make sure that only one installation of Microsoft Office exists on the machine.

Uninstall all previous versions of Microsoft Office and install Microsoft Office 2013.

Uninstall Office 2007 component
If Microsoft Office 2007 was installed, you must uninstall the Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies features in the Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Uninstall VSTO30
In the Control Panel > Programs and Features, locate the Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 Runtime feature and uninstall.

Update IGSS
Update your IGSS installation through the IGSS Update functionality in the IGSS Master > Information and Support tab > Update IGSS Software button.
To access the Update IGSS Software button, enable Design Mode by selecting IGSS Master > Application Menu > Design mode.

Note:
The Update IGSS procedure will require the IGSS installation on the server is closed during the update.

Install VSTO30 from the IGSS installation files.
In the IGSS Installation files > VSTO folder, find and execute theVSTO30.exe file. This will install and place the RMS.VSTO file in your IGSS installation folder on the local machine.

The IGSS installation files are found on the installation CD/DVD, on your USB key or in the folder you downloaded your IGSS installation files to from IGSS.com

Run RMS.VSTO file
On your local machine in the IGSS installation folder > GSS folder, find and execute the RMS.VSTO file to install RMS components for use in Microsoft Office 2013.
