Backed-up files and altering configuration

FAQ Question
I’ve performed a back-up of the files generated by IGSS while my configuration is running, which I must preserve for future operations documentation of my plant. Now I want to alter my configuration, for instance by adding more pumping stations. What must I do to insure data integrity?
Answer
If you wish to maintain the integrity of log files and alarm files, then the back-up you’ve made of these files must be transferred back to the hard disk folder where they resided before you make changes to the configuration. If this is not done before the configuration is altered, then these log and alarm files will be forever lost. This is not the case, however, for .BCL files, which will always survive not being transferred back to the hard disk before changes are made to the configuration.
