After I have updated my IGSS program, I experience “problems” with the OPC data and I can see the OPC server is still running, even when I restart IGSS after the update, what should I do?

Answer

When the IGSS update process is initiated, all program elements of IGSS are usually shut down to enable updating. If a program element is being accessed by another, 3rd party program, that element will not be shut down.

In this case, the IGSS OPC Server was being accessed by a 3rd party OPC program and was still providing OPC data to that 3rd party program. The IGSS OPC Server was therefore not  shut down by the IGSS update procedure.

To ensure the IGSS OPC Server is forcibly shut down whenever IGSS is shut down, you can set the following registry setting for the local machine:

  1. On the local machine, in the windows desktop, click Start and enter Regedit in the search field of the Windows Start menu to open the Registry Editor form.
  2. In the left pane of the Registry Editor form, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Schneider Electric\IGSS32\V10.00.00\IGSS_HKLM folder.
  3. In the right pane of the Registry Editor form, right click the KillOPCServer registry key and select Modify to open the Edit Word (32-bit) Value form.
  4. In the Value Data field, enter the value 1 and click the OK button to save the new value.
  5. Click File > Exit to save the registry settings and close the Registry Editor form.
