How to verify software authenticity

This guide describes how you can verify the authenticity of the IGSS software and the setup installation downloaded.

1. Make sure that the installation package is downloaded as zip via link from our website.
2. Extract the zip and locate the file within the “cdimage” folder called “setup.exe”.
3. Right click the file, and select “Properties”, select the “Digital Signatures” tab.
4. Mark the signature called: “Schneider Electric Danmark A/S” and select Details.
5. Click “View Certificate”, and observe that the authority that issued the certificate to sign the file is “DigiCert Trusted G4 Code Signing RSA4096 SHA384 2021 CA1”.
6. This ensures that the file is indeed from us, and that the content has not been tampered with.
6. Repeat the steps above for the file “IGSS/IGSS.msi”, where the signature is the same.

You may also repeat these steps for other packages within the installation. These packages should be signed by “Microsoft” and their signature marked as OK, by the Windows Operating System.

Once IGSS is installed with Administrator priviledges in the default “Program files (x86) ” directory, as recommended in our Security Guideline, IGSS files can be verified following the same steps as above.

As “IGSSMaster.exe” is the entry point for running the IGSS software, this file should be verified first and before its execution as an extra precaution. With V18 of IGSS, The Master module can then be used to verify the installation from “Information and Support” -> “Validate IGSS Software”.

Note that 3rd party libraries used by IGSS are signed with other signatures. The properties of these files can tell if their signatures are trusted by Windows.
