Siemens Simatic / TI500 Series & Texas Instruments 500 Series ID:9

Interface Description

IGSS32 offers an interface for the Siemens Simatic/TI PLC equipment in the TI 500 series using Transparent Byte Protocol. Transparent Byte Protocol uses serial RS-232C connections allowing connection of up to 8 PLCs concurrently. Each of these PLCs may in turn be connected to other devices (e.g. other PLCs) via a separate network. (RS-232C, TIWAY, SINEC L1, SINEC H1 etc.)

The Simatic TI 500 Series offers a vaviety of industrial PLCs with different capacities and performances. These PLCs can be equipped RS-232C, RS-422 and/or RS-485 interfaces The communication protocol used for interfacing to the various PLCs in the 500 Series is the same. Hence the same communication driver can be used for interfacing to the PLCs.

The IGSS32 system polls the PLC equipment cyclically according to one of four user-defined time intervals. The time intervals are configurable from 100 milliseconds to 999 seconds. The system automatically groups process data in data blocks – thus fully exploiting the the communication link in relation to the present configuration.
