Interface Description

IGSS32 offers an interface for connection to SINEC L2 (PROFIBUS) networks using SICOS protocol. SINEC L2 networks are based on industri standard PROFIBUS specifications which is used an a large number of industial applications. SINEC L2 networks are flexible and relatively easy to use yet offering fast and relaiable communication.

SICOS is a state-of-the-art object oriented library of function blocks designed for use with Simatic S5 and Simatic S7 PLC series. The object oriented features of SICOS is extended to incorporate data exchange between PLCs and HMI systems such as IGSS32. This is implemented by using an application layer communication protocol specially designed for fast event-oriented data exhange. The SICOS system gives the programmer full control of then and why data are to be send to the supervision system – thus fully exploiting the bandwidth of the communication link. The SICOS communication protocol and the object oriented features of SICOS is fully integrated into IGSS32.

SICOS systems are used in a large number of industrial applications including oil and gas production, ship automation and other applications which requires minimal response times combined with large amounts of I/O points.

The PC has to be connected to the SINEC L2 network using a CP board which is supported by either SoftNet/S7, CP5412-A2 or compatible interface boards.
