Siemens Sinec H1 (SICOS protocol) ID:5

Interface Description

The IGSS32 Siemens Sinec H1 ethernet communication interface offers connection to Simatic S5 and S7 Series of PLCs equipped with H1 interface boards e.g. CP1430, CP143, CP443-1 or CP443-1 IT and SICOS PLC operating system. The driver uses ISO or ISO over TCP/IP (RFC1006) transport layer connections and SICOS protocol to communicate with the PLCs.

SICOS is a state-of-the-art object oriented library of function blocks designed for use with Simatic S5 and Simatic S7 PLC series. The object oriented features of SICOS is extended to incorporate data exchange between PLCs and HMI systems such as IGSS32. This is implemented by using an application layer communication protocol specially designed for fast event-oriented data exhange. The SICOS system gives the programmer full control of then and why data are to be send to the supervision system – thus fully exploiting the bandwidth of the communication link. The SICOS communication protocol and the object oriented features of SICOS is fully integrated into IGSS32.

SICOS systems are used in a large number of industrial applications including oil and gas production, ship automation and other applications which requires minimal response times combined with large amounts of I/O points.

*) The IGSS32 Sinec H1 communication interface supports both hardware and software based protocol stacks from Siemens. When software based protocol stacks are used (Siemens Softnet S7 for IE) then the number of concurrent connections are limited.
