New display of Alarm logs

FAQ Question

Is there any improvement to the Alarm log list?

Answer

The Alarm log list functionality has been improved when you update your IGSS application.

Previously, if the alarm log list contained records greater than the maximum number of alarm logs, only the most recent (newest) 10,000 alarm logs were displayed in the Alarm log form.

Now, the alarm log list will only be displayed if the number of alarm logs is less than the maximum number of alarm logs. If the number of alarm logs is greater than the maximum number of alarm logs, the alarm log list will not be displayed and an information box will be appear instead.

Filter the alarm log list

In order to see the alarm log list, you can create an alarm log filter to display only those alarm logs you are interested in analyzing. If the filter results in a number of alarm logs that is greater than the maximum number of alarm logs, no alarm logs will be displayed and you must edit your filter to further reduce the result.

You can set an existing alarm log filter to be the default filter for the alarm log list by prefixing the filter name with an asterisk (*). Only one default filter can be defined for the alarm log list and the default alarm log list filter will automatically be used whenever the alarm log list is opened.

The maximum number of alarm logs

The maximum number of alarm logs is set to 10,001 by default, but you can change this default in the System Configuration form > Alarm tab > Max. alarm log entries field found in IGSS Master > Design and Setup tab > System Configuration button.

Alarm log entries exceeding this number are still logged by IGSS, but if the total number of alarm logs exceeds the maximum number of alarm logs, alarm logs will not be displayed in the Alarm log form.
