FAQ Question
After boot/reboot of my IGSS Server, IGSS cannot start the Siemens S7 Protocol Driver (ID 8). How do I correct this problem?Answer
When the Siemens S7 Protocol Driver for IGSS is started up, it connects to the SIMATIC software. This initial connection may take some time.
We recommend that you delay the startup of the IGSS configuration with at least 30 seconds to make sure that the connection is fully established.
This can be done by adding a command line parameter to either the IGSS Starter program (Igss.exe) or to the Start Delay program (Startdelay.exe).
Delay startup of the IGSS Starter program
1. In the Windows Startup menu, include a shortcut to the IGSS Starter program. The path is [IGSS InstallPath]\Gss\Igss.exe.
2. Right-click the shortcut and add -W30000 to the Target field. Optionally, in the Comment field write “Delay start of IGSS with 30 seconds”. Click OK.
Make sure that the Windows Registry key – WaitForLib – is set to 0, after you have specified the start delay. It is found in this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\7-Technologies\IGSS32\V6.00.00\7ts7
RESULT: When you boot or reboot the PC, the IGSS Starter program will delay its startup with 30 seconds.
Delay startup with the Start Delay program
1. In the Windows Startup menu, include a shortcut to the Start Delay program. The path is [IGSS InstallPath]\Gss\Startdelay.exe.
2. Right-click the shortcut and add IGSS.exe 30 to the Target field.
RESULT : When you boot or reboot the PC, the IGSS Starter program will delay its startup with 30 seconds.
