System Requirements

To ensure a stable and good performance within IGSS server, we recommend the use of server software, server hardware and the use of CPU with few powerful cores, instead of using many cores with less power.

In general when working with large configurations, it is also highly recommended to install a dedicated graphics card in order to improve display and processing performance.

Hardware requirements for IGSS Servers

The following minimum and recommended hardware requirements are applicable to IGSS servers and dualized IGSS servers.

Processor

Intel Core i5 – equivalent or faster.

Note! Fewer faster cores are preferable over many slow cores.

Memory
8 GB Ram.
Storage SSD

1 TB – 1.5 Gigabytes for the IGSS installation.

IGSS data storage will necessitate additional storage capacity, depending on the storage requirement of the IGSS configuration.

Graphics card

Dedicated graphics card with at least 1 gigabyte graphics RAM accessible. The more RAM, the better.

Note! Many server computers are not shipped with powerful graphics cards by default.

Connectivity

At least one free parallel or USB port available for licensed systems that use V16 and older and use an IGSS hard-lock dongle

For licensed systems that use V17, it is no longer required to have a free parallel or USB port available – as V17 license can only be issued as a Soft-lock

Soft-locks for IGSS installations (an alternative to hard-locks) are available for IGSS version 9 and above.

The following software requirements are applicable to IGSS servers and dualized IGSS servers.

Operating System

The following software requirements are applicable for operating system to 32 bit & 64 bit versions of:

  • Windows 2022 Server (IGSS 16 and newer)
  • Windows 2019 Server (IGSS 12 and newer)
  • Windows 2016 Server (IGSS 12 up too IGSS 16)
  • Windows 2012 Server (IGSS 10 up too IGSS 16)
  • Windows 11 (IGSS16 and newer)
  • Windows 10 (IGSS11 and newer)

The following software can be installed on IGSS servers and dualized IGSS servers but is not required for normal process monitoring.

If you expect to take advantage of specific IGSS functionality, such as Audit Trail and Custom Reports as well as saving IGSS data to a

common, accessible platform, you must install the software listed below.

Microsoft SQL Server

These server versions are required if you want to use Audit Trail and save IGSS data to a common accessible platform.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2016
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2017
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2019
Microsoft SQL Server

These server versions are required if you want to use Audit Trail and save IGSS data to a common accessible platform.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 R2
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012

The MS SQL Server Express program has the following database size limitations:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005: 2 GB
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008: 4 GB
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 R2: 10 GB
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012: 10 GB
Microsoft SQL Server

32 bit versions only

Required if you need to design custom reports, send data to Excel, attach reports to-mail messages and run IGSS Real-Time Data, otherwise optional.

  • Microsoft Office 2007
  • Microsoft Office 2010
  • Microsoft Office 2013
  • Microsoft Office 2016
  • Microsoft Office 365 (32bit)

IGSS Operator Stations

These requirements are relevant for standard IGSS operator stations. Single-user back up operator stations with or without distributed drivers will have slightly increased requirements with regards to data storage and connectivity.

The system time for operator stations with distributed drivers must be always be synchronized with the IGSS Server in order to avoid data loss or incorrect data time stamps.

Processor

Intel Core i5 – equivalent or faster.

Note! Fewer faster cores are preferable over many slow cores.

Memory
8 GB Ram.
Storage SSD

512 GB – 1.5 Gigabytes for the IGSS installation.

Single-user back up operator stations with or without distributed drivers must have sufficient data storage capacity to contain process data

Graphics card

Shared graphics card, at least 1 GB graphics RAM accessible.

In general, the more allocated graphics RAM the better. Preferably a dedicated graphics card.

Connectivity

None.

Note! Single-user back up operator stations with distributed drivers must have at least one free parallel or USB port available for an IGSS hard-lock dongle
for licensed systems that use V16 and older and use hard-locks.

For licensed systems that use V17, it is no longer required to have a free parallel or USB port available – as V17 license can only be issued as a Soft-lock.

Soft-locks for IGSS installations (an alternative to hard-locks) are available for IGSS version 9 and above.

Normal Operator Stations and Operator Stations with Distributed Drivers do not require hard-lock dongles installed.

The following software requirements are applicable to IGSS operator stations.

Operating System

The following software requirements are applicable for operating system to 32 bit & 64 bit versions of:

  • Windows 11 (IGSS 16 and newer)
  • Windows 10 (IGSS 11 and newer)
