SNMP Client and Server
(Simple Network Management Protocol)
SNMP or Simple Network Management Protocol is an Internet standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks. Devices that typically support SNMP include routers, switches, servers, workstations, modem racks and more. It is used mostly in network management systems to monitor network equipment for conditions that require some manual intervention. IGSS V10 includes both a SNMP client and a server.
SNMP Client
Using our new SNMP client driver you can now include runtime information about network components in your SCADA interface, this enables you to see the status of network switches, servers, pc’s and other SNMP enabled components like server room climate control etc.
This can help you to quickly pinpoint faults in those parts of the system that you before had to manually inspect, saving you a lot of time in the diagnostics phase when resolving an issue and lets you fix the situation faster.
SNMP Server
The SNMP server (agent) built into IGSS V10 gives a SNMP client access to runtime status information for various parts of the IGSS system. The SNMP agent gives access to most of the status information already available to the system operator through the IGSS Master module, e.g. status of running modules; internal communication counters etc.
IGSS SNMP agent features:
- Status information for all IGSS modules (applications)
- Network communication information for all operator stations attached to a server
- Status information for drivers and driver communication (both local distributed)
- Internal IGSS system counters
