The Faceplate Master Diagram
A Faceplate Master Diagram is a diagram of the type "Master Faceplate" and is used to contain placeholders for the objects in the underlying faceplate diagrams. A Faceplate Master Diagram is a normal diagram with respects to the creation and placement of objects, editing diagram parameters or embedding objects, while the underlying Faceplate Diagrams are restricted in their functionality.
You can change the diagram type after you have created it, but if you change the diagram type from "Master Faceplate" to "Standard", all underlying Faceplate Diagrams and objects in the object list will be deleted and lost.
Note: You can reallocate a Faceplate Diagram to another Master Faceplate Diagram – For more info, please refer to "Change the faceplate master diagram using the Properties Table View (PTV)".
It is not recommended to use a Faceplate Master Diagram as a normal process diagram for monitoring, setting and reporting values in the process components. The Faceplate Master Diagram should be used as a master diagram for the underlying Faceplate Diagrams, and should not be used for day-to-day production in order to have a clean Faceplate Master Diagram to adjust the underlying Faceplate Diagrams with.
Any objects created and placed directly on the Faceplate Master Diagram will be replicated on the underlying Faceplate Diagrams. You can use this to create common objects that are to be accessible for all instances of the Faceplate Diagram.
You can edit the properties of the Faceplate Master Diagram in Property Table View. To open this, do Shift + Ctrl + H in the Global area, and select Objects > Diagrams. The Faceplate Master Diagram is listed together with the other diagrams.
Tip: In Property Table View you can see which Faceplate Diagrams and $$ Master Objects are associated with a Faceplate Master Diagram as well as edit the properties of these. Right-click in the Faceplate Master Diagram and select Property Table View… > Objects.
Embedded Alarm Lists, Diagrams and Graphs
The Faceplate Master Diagram can contain Embedded Alarm Lists and Embedded Graphs which can be filtered to only display faceplate objects on the object list for the active faceplate .
Embedded Diagrams can also be placed on Master Faceplate Diagrams, with Master objects and Faceplate objects created and placed within the Embedded Diagram. The object list is as always created and maintained on the faceplate itself and care must be made to differentiate where and on which sub-diagram the faceplate objects are placed.
