Why use object templates?
Use for analog,
table, counter and digital objects object templates to
- ensure
consistency within a configuration because each process component is based
on a common object template.
- save valuable
engineering time by eliminating the need of entering the same information
for a number of very similar process components.
- limit the
task of creating new process components to typing a unique name and a
specific PLC address.
When an object template is used, objects can be defined simply and quickly, since the only additional information the system needs is a new object name, PLC addressing and graphical presentation.
Digital object templates
With a digital
object template you can also:
- Use any
number of states and commands
- Give the
states and commands the names you like
- Define the bits used for states and commands
- Define
the bits used for alarm indication and acknowledgement
- Save color
and symbol selections as part of the object template
- Change
object template properties and thus change objects based on that object template
