Example: Creating additional Protect objects

If you need to differentiate the user rights on objects of the same type, you will need additional Protect objects.

Here is an example where the operators must have different rights on temperature meters and flow meters, respectively.

Each protect object has been created based on the PROTECT digital object template but is assigned different security level permissions and is applied to different IGSS process objects.

To define additional Protect objects, do the following:

New protect objects must be based on the PROTECT digital object template. Do not copy this object template. Only the original digital object template will work.

  1. In the Objects menu, select New Unreferenced.
  1. In the Object Browser, do the following:

  1. Click Create.
  1. Click OK to accept the default settings for the object.
  1. Repeat steps 1 – 4 for the number of additional Protect objects required.
