The Graph Toolbar
The toolbar presents a number of functions and options to the operator and can be displayed or hidden for the graph by selecting the Display Graph Toolbar check box on the Options tab in the Properties form.
The Graph toolbar is displayed at the top of the graph (if this option has been selected when the graph was defined).
If an embedded graph in a diagram is more narrow than the width of the toolbar, only the first buttons in the toolbar will be visible.
In the following are described the toolbars for graphs.
Graph toolbar
- Display signal points on the graph line
- Display signal values on the graph line
- Show alarms on the graph line.
- Magnify a graph area (Zoom in or zoom out)
- Jump to a specific date in the graph
- Change the period of the graph
- Compare the present graph trend with the graph trend for another period
- Send the present graph image to the default printer (not embedded graphs)
- Email a graph
- Save the graph as an Operator Graph (not embedded graphs)
- Export the graph to a comma separated (CSV) file
- Generate a graph report as an html file.
The Graph Toolbar is identical for most of graphs with a few exceptions as indicated above and in the table below. The toolbar for the Embedded Graph Basic is different – see the How to ... help for this.
You can also get access to most of these options in the Graph Property Menu which can be found by right-clicking inside the graph.
Preconditions
Stand-alone Graph and Operator Graph must be opened in a Graph window. Embedded Graph are permanently displayed as part of a diagram.
The Display Graph Toolbar check box on the Options tab in the Properties form must be selected for the Graph toolbar to be displayed.

Description |
---|---|
Show Points |
Select this option to display the points in the graph line. The points will be displayed as light gray dots. If you want to see the values on the graph line, select the Show Values option. |
Hide Points |
Select this option to hide the points in the graph line. The graph will be rendered as line(s) with no points. |
Show values |
Select this option to display data values in the graph line. The value indicator will be displayed in the X-axis of the graph. You can drag the value indicator to any position in the graph and display the values on the graph line as well as the date and time of the value. If you want to see the points on the graph line, select the Show points option. |
Hide values |
Select this option to hide the value indicator. |
Show Alarms |
Select this option to display Alarms in the graph line. |
Zoom in |
Select this option to zoom in on an area in the graph. Click and drag to mark an area in the graph and release the mouse. You can continue to zoom areas, increase the details by selecting this option and graph area repeatedly. The selected area is magnified and a zoom overview window will open in the upper right-hand corner of the graph displaying the graph area in miniature with the zoomed area. |
Zoom Area |
If you select Zoom in, you can only determine which period (X-axis) is to be zoomed. Select the Zoom Area option to zoom in on a custom area in the graph, defining which value (Y-axis) as well as the period (X-axis) to be zoomed. You can also achieve this by selecting Zoom in and pressing the ↑Shift key while dragging an area in the graph. |
Zoom out |
Select this option to zoom out of a graph area, stepping back one zoom action. This option is only accessible if the graph has been zoomed once or more. |
Reset Zoom |
Select this option to zoom out to the main area, resetting all zoomed areas. |
Go to Date
|
Select this option to open the Go to Date form where you can jump to a an entered date and time. You can also click the Now button to jump to the present date and time in the graph. |
Change Period |
Select this option to open the Graph Properties form and change the display period. Only the Period tab of the Graph properties form will be accessible. Here you can also select the Set as Default option. |
Compare Periods |
Select this option to compare the present trend with the trend for another period. When set, the area will be divided into two sections, the Y-axis displaying the value scale divided into two sections for each set of signals. |
Single Period |
Select this option to revert from a split-sectioned comparison to the original single graph/XY-plot . |
(not embedded graphs) |
Select this option to send the present stand-alone or Operator graph, displayed in a separate window, to the default printer. |
Select this option to open the Email Graph form where you can write and send an email message with the graph attached as a JPG file to e-mail recipients. The email function requires that the pc, where the IGSS system is running has an associated email account. In some cases, before a message can be sent, a warning message will appear asking you to allow this as a security measure triggered by e.g. anti virus software. |
|
Save (not embedded graphs) |
Select this option to open the Save As form where you can save a pre-defined stand-alone standard graph with its own window as an operator graph, creating a new operator graph. You can also use this function to save and overwrite an already existing operator graph. You can always save a standard graph as an operator graph and afterwards edit the properties and signal settings of the operator graph, creating your own customized graph. |
Export as CSV |
Click this button to export the values of the objects currently displayed in the graph as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) text file. You can open the CSV file in other 3rd party products such as Excel and continue to work with the exported object values. |
Create an HTML report |
Select this option to create an HTML report. The operator can generate a graph report for a user defined period with statistics for the selected graph signals, calculated by the IGSS system, for all graph types except an Embedded Graph Basic. It is also possible to include an image of the graph itself. Graph reports can be created for all objects relevant for graphs: Analog, digital, counter and table objects. |
