Create Views

Views may be created either as global views or diagram views. Global views are accessible for all diagrams and areas while Diagrams are accessible only for the individual diagram.

To create a global view

  1. In the Definition module, click Views  > Create Global View to open the Create Views form.
  2. In the Create Views form, in the Name field, enter a unique name for the global view.
  3. In the Position field, select the position (listing) of the new global view in the Views menu*
    1. In the Display Descriptors From Layers group, select the descriptor layers you want to include in the view.
    2. In the Display Values From Layers group, select the object value layers you want to include in the view.
    3. In the Display Object Names From Layers group, select object name the layers you want to include in the view.
  4. Click the OK button to create the new global view.

To create a diagram view

Newly created diagram views are not automatically displayed in the Define Views group, but you can verify the diagram views in the drop-down list in the Define Views field.

  1. In the Definition module, right-click the diagram and select Properties to open the Diagram Properties form.
  2. In the Diagram Properties form, click the Create button in the Define Views group to open the Create View form.
  3. In the Create Views form, in the Name field, enter a unique name for the diagram view.
  4. In the Position field, select the position (listing) of the new global view in the Views menu*
    1. In the Display Descriptors From Layers group, select the descriptor layers you want to include in the view.
    2. In the Display Values From Layers group, select the object value layers you want to include in the view.
    3. In the Display Object Names From Layers group, select object name the layers you want to include in the view.
  5. Click the OK button to create the new diagram view and close the Create View form.
  6. In the Diagram Properties form, you can select the new diagram view in the drop-down field in the Define Views field.

* The value in the Position field defines the listing order of the view in the Views menu found in Definition module > Views.
